The Trust has a highly experienced and well- trained group of staff, as befits a pharmacy service in one of the top trusts within the country. The senior pharmacy staff are experts in their fields of practice, some having important contributions to pharmacy practice within the West Midlands, others known nationally.
The Pharmacy service employs four main categories of staff:
- Pharmacists, registered with the GPhC, having a pharmacy degree and often further clinical and/or management qualifications
- Pharmacy Technicians, registered with the GPhC, having NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification (or higher)
- Pharmacy Assistants, having or studying for NVQ level 2 qualification
- Administrative and Clerical staff, similarly having appropriate qualifications for their roles
In addition, the Pharmacy Departments provide training for up to 10 student pharmacy technicians (2-year training course), and 7 pre-registration pharmacists (1-year training programme). It also provides hospital-based training for pharmacy students from Aston University.
Each group of staff have their own contributions to make to the efficient operation of the Pharmacy Service.
